O The Millennium bim was born from an agreement for strategic partnership between the Banco Comercial Português, presently, Millennium bcp, and the Mozambican State, in 1995.

Ever since, the Millennium bim history has been plain of meaningful and deep changes that require involvement of all employees to face the challenges and shoulder responsibility needed for the course of changes, while the perspective is initiative and modernity.

The Millennium bim mirrors the robustness of the national financial market, showing available development opportunities, either at the extent of strategic partnerships, or at investment, new technologies exploration, and growth, having in common the stability and prosperity of the Country.

The time of Millennium bim activity in the market have represented a period full of facts that we are proud of, ruled by the importance we attribute to the Future.

Pursuant to the changes that occurred in 2000 at the extent of the Banco Comercial de Moçambique (BCM) structure, the main Millennium bim shareholder, likewise the Banco Comercial Português (bcp) became a reference shareholder of the BCM. This evolution, which implied the BCP (now designated Millennium bcp) to become the major shareholder of the two banks - Millennium bim and BCM – required access to some structural adjustments, not only in operational view, but also in the feature of those commercial institutions.

In this aspect, rationalization and structural unification projects have begun, which embanked in procedures that speeded up optimization of services levels, quality improvement, a major innovation capacity and cost reduction, and completed the merging of the two banks that occurred in November 2001. Once the merging was materialized, the Bank adopted the name of one of the two merged banks – Banco Internacional de Moçambique (Millennium bim) – and became the major Bank operating at the domestic market.

Likewise, at insurance sector, adjustments of similar nature have taken place in companies around the shareholders of these Banks - one in the operational framework of the Millennium bim, SIM, and the other in the sphere of the BCM. Economically rational, IMPAR, adopted the merging of the two companies. This merging gave rise to the major insurance company operating at the domestic market and took the name of Millennium sim.

Nowadays, the Millennium bim is a true economic lever in Mozambique, and it is characterized by being a financial institution with technological and human resources and, above all, by having a determined will to be the best and a major financial institution in Mozambique.
